Body Composition

Foundation Two

Body Composition

Lean muscle is the most valuable thing you'll ever own. It buys you energy. It buys you a healthy metabolism. It buys you the freedom to eat. It's also the first thing most people lose if they stop paying attention.

How a body is built — the mix of muscle and fat, and the work it can do day to day — has a much bigger say in how you feel and how long you stay healthy than what the scale reads on a Monday morning.

01

What we track

Simple, steady stuff. Tape measurements at the same spots. Skinfolds when useful. How you're doing in the gym. How clothes fit. Photos every eight to twelve weeks.

We look at the trend over months, not days. The scale is the noisiest signal in the room. Water, food the night before, hormones, and a hundred other things move it around for reasons that have nothing to do with progress. It does not get to drive the bus.

02

Building muscle

Your body won't build muscle without a reason (strength training), the raw materials (enough food and protein), and the time to recover.

Get all three right and the rest takes care of itself. Get any of the three wrong and the work does not add up. Most adults are short on protein, short on sleep, and not steady with their lifting. Fix those three and a body changes inside a year.

03

Losing fat the right way

A small calorie gap, plenty of protein, training that protects your muscle, sleep you take seriously, and patience measured in months. That is the whole method.

Crash diets cost you the very thing you're trying to keep. Lose ten kilos fast and a big chunk of it will be muscle — and the metabolism that came with it. You end up smaller, weaker, and ready to bounce back. Slow is the only kind of fat loss that holds.

04

Muscle and how your body runs

Muscle is busy tissue. More of it means better blood sugar handling, better recovery from illness, and a body that does more with what you feed it.

It is also your best guard against the slow slide most people accept in their forties and fifties. That slide is not a given. It is mostly disuse.

05

What changes day to day

Stairs feel like stairs again. Mornings start without bargaining with the coffee machine. Energy holds through the afternoon meeting, the school pick-up, the second wind a long day needs.

Food stops being a daily fight and starts being part of how you train. Clothes fit. The body you walk around in feels like a place you want to live.

Core Principles

  • Protect muscle at all costs.
  • Slow change is the kind that sticks.
  • Sleep, stress, and daily steps matter as much as macros.
  • Track what you do — not how you feel that day.

Common Questions

Questions

Building visible muscle takes years of careful work and a lot of food. Strength training tones, tightens, and reshapes long before it bulks anyone. For almost everyone, the answer is: no, you will just look like you train.
